Backup!

Backup important files stored on your device before proceeding with the steps below, so that in case something goes wrong you’ll have backup of all your important files.

How to Root

Step 1. Make sure you have unlocked bootloader of your LG V10. Otherwise you cannot install TWRP. For help with this, check out our page on LG V10 bootloader unlock here.

This will delete everything on your device, so be sure to take appropriate backups before proceeding.

Step 2. Make sure that you have installed TWRP recovery on your LG V10. For help, check out our page on LG V10 TWRP recovery here.

Step 3. Now, download the SuperSU root package from above.

Step 4. We need SuperSU file on our LG V10. So, connect your LG V10 to PC and transfer the downloaded file to it.

Step 5. Boot your device into recovery mode. For this:

  1. Power off the device. Then wait for 4-5 seconds after screen goes off.
  2. Press and hold Volume down + Power button together until you see LG’s logo. Release them for like 1 second when you see LG’s logo, and then press and hold them both buttons again immediately.

You’ll enter recovery mode soon, and will see TWRP recovery.

Step 6. In TWRP, tap on Install button, and then select the SuperSU file you transferred earlier to the device. Then do the swipe action at bottom on next screen to confirm flashing the SuperSU file.

Step 7. When done, simply tap on Reboot System button to restart the device.

That’s it. Your LG V10 will be rooted once it has fully booted up. Look for the SuperSU app in the app drawer.

To verify root access, use the root checker app from Play Store.
