LG just announced the Optimus Pro (codenamed LG-C660) which targets the office guys wanting to share the android scene, too. If you’re an Android hardcore, this sort of phone is never gonna psych you up unless you look to purchase one feature rich android device for your Dad or uncle. It follows the trend started by Motorola with Droid Pro which Samsung followed too with the device, um, silly… I even forgot the name (and don’t mind searching it for you, either).
LG Optimus Pro builds on the Optimus saga LG has chosen to weave year by year, but let’s check out what kind of spec-sheet LG is trusting with to find it space in the blackberry dominated offices. BTW, not only the office goers, those looking for their first smartphone experience can play safe with the Optimus Pro too since it suits the entry-level segment pretty well. Yep, the Specs now:
- 2.8 inch screen with a meager resolution of 240 x 320 (In case you didn’t know it already, the screen size acts as big hint in the Price that will be allotted to an Android phone – bigger the costlier, as you guessed it.)
- Portrait physical keyboard on the front below the screen
- Android 2.3 Gingerbread — that’s pretty cool
- 800 MHz processor
- 512 MB RAM and 256 MB ROM — which is okay. but if you download apps from the android market, the device will get slower with each installation
- 3 Megapixel camera (no front facing camera obviously)
- Wi-Fi, GPS, FM Radio
- 1500 mAh battery — should see a day through easily provided you haven’t installed app from the market that do a lot of running in the background. That’s a warning, too!
- 3 colors: white, titan and black. If I ever happen to purchase this phone, it would be white.
There it is. I think it would be selling for around 300 dollars (210 Euros or 186 pounds approx). Once again, cool only for guys-with-tie who wanna experience android’s magic, although there wouldn’t be much with a phone of this range and this spec-sheet. But that’s that.
