Samsung had one and so did Motorola, HTC and Sony Ericsson. And although we were surprised where is the LG’s HD phone, we really felt it was just around the corner.

Anyway, it’s here officially — LG’s first HD phone, called the Optimus LTE. Obviously, it supports LTE too and is the first device from LG to do so, while also being company’s first HD screen equipped phone too with a  resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. And on top of that, this is the only 1.5 GHz dual-core phone from LG. No doubt, LG has too many hopes tied to it.

Interestingly, only recently Samsung announced its two new LTE phones — Galaxy S2 LTE and Galaxy S2 HD LTE — and both of these have 1.5 GHz dual-core GHz processors too. LG’s offering in Optimus LTE is in direct competition to that of Samsung but LG chose to not include ‘HD’ in its phone’s name.

LG Optimus LTE has been announced for Korea only right now. Although no release date is out for even Korean market, but we think sooner or later it will arrive in US (as LG Revolution 2 perhaps), UK and other major markets.

LG Optimus LTE Specifications

  • 1.5 GHz dual-core processor
  • Latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS
  • 4.5 inch IPS display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution — LG calls it ‘True HD IPS’ display
  • 8 megapixel camera in back and 1.3 megapixel in front
  • 1GB RAM
  • LTE (theoretical speeds of up to 75 mbps)
  • 1830 mAh battery

So, this is it. It seems as LG Revolution 2 for Verizon Wireless in US and should launch globally soon as LG Optimus LTE. Let us know your thoughts on Optimus LTE in comments below.

Other HD android phones are (rumored): Motorola Droid RAZR, SE Xperia Nozomi, Samsung Galaxy S2 HD LTE and HTC Vigor. Do check these links and plan out your next phone — in pretty informed way, eh!
