The price of high-end LG smartphone G6 has been rumored. As per a Korean source, the LG G6 will carry a price tag of 876,000 Won in Korea, which is approximately $750. This makes LG G6 at least 40,000 Won costlier than its predecessor, LG G5. Notably, additions of new features to the G6 device, such as waterproofing and dustproofing, dual cameras, fingerprint sensor, which were missing in G5, have contributed to the price rise.

Experts believe that a slight rise in domestic G6 prices will not have a negative impact on actual sales as most consumers who choose premium smartphones put spec and performance to be top priority. And in these two areas, LG G6 turns out to be a clear winner.

LG has decided to do away with the modular concept introduced with the G5 and instead is going for a glass and metal look with a 5.7-inch almost bezel-less display. A dual camera setup and a fingerprint sensor at the back completes the flagship. It is also the first G series smartphone to feature IP68 rated water and dust protection. Other features include Snapdragon 835 processor, AI Google Assistant, wireless charging.

It is noteworthy that LG is expected to ship more than 6 million G6 units this year. Therefore, the company is concentrating on G6 yield management to avoid the initial production instability problem which was faced in case of G5.

The release date for LG G6 is set for February 26 during a press event in Barcelona, just a day before the MWC launch.
