While it’s no secret that phone manufacturers outsource the production of various modules to different companies in order to gain parallel, cheap and fast production of hardware, there are always concerns regarding the conditions on workers and hence the need to keep the whole process low-key.
An anonymous source has come out and named CrucialTec and Ssuntel as the companies who manufactured the fingerprint modules for LG’s latest flagship, the LG G6.
“The two local biometric module makers have been selected as the main suppliers of the fingerprint module fitted in the G6”, the Anonymous source quoted. It must be reminded that CrucialTec is the world’s largest manufacturer of Optical Track Pad mobile input devices. The company also manufactures and supplies OTP devices to various handset manufacturers.
While the two manufacturing companies have refused to comment on the leak, it is stated that CrucialTec started to supply its fingerprint modules for LG’s G5 and V20 from 2016 while Ssuntel, which offered touch screen panels to the smartphone maker, also supplied the biometric module for G6 this year.
