Before the launch of the LG G4, there were talks regarding another high-end smartphone from the South Korean tech giant. Well, it is the smartphone that is speculated to be unveiled later this year.

As per a recent report by the Korean publication ET News, this smartphone could be called LG G4 Pro and it is claimed to be made using metal. The source suggests that the device might be made of metal to differentiate it from the G4 that went official in April. The G4 is made of plastic and there is an option to choose leather back covers.

Some working with the manufacturer claim that metal should be tested initially on niche models and it can be used on devices only when the build quality and other aspects are fine. If so, the metal made smartphones are claimed to have the potential to be best sellers in the market.

The main issue that LG is facing at present is the higher cost that is involved in using metal in smartphones as compared to the other materials. LG is selling fewer devices in comparison to market leaders Apple and Samsung that have metallic flagship devices. Hence, LG is likely to suffer in terms of profitability if the production cost of smartphones made of metal is high.

Other than the speculation that the LG G4 Pro could allegedly feature a metal build there are no other details regarding the device. From the yesteryear model LG G Pro 2, we can expect the G4 Pro to be larger than the G4 and support the use of a stylus pen. This way, the LG G4 Pro can be made to compete with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
