Earlier today, the Chinese maker Lenovo has announced the Lenovo Cast streaming device for a price tag of $49. This model will be a direct competitor to the Chromecast and it will be launched in the global markets from August this year.
The Lenovo Cast is different from the Chromecast in terms of functionality. It adds DLNA and Miracast support to the HDTV and lets you stream media content from the Miracast or DLNA enabled smartphone or tablet. This way, you can mirror your smartphone or tablet screen to your HDTV.
Furthermore, Lenovo notes that unlike the other casting devices, this latest offering provides better streaming experience with the dual frequency Wi-Fi and support to transfer content up to 20 meters. Regarding the Lenovo Cast, Liu Jun, Executive Vice President and President of Mobile Business Group of Lenovo stated that people want more from their devices these days.
He stated that the Lenovo Cast will provide them the freedom to accomplish more and share a slew of content including games and videos on their smartphones and tablets with their friends. It will work in three simple and easy steps – plug, link and play.
