Somehow the budget smartphone is becoming the mainstream in 2015. We’re seeing high-end hardware under $199 from almost every manufacturer, specially the ones who didn’t had any luck in the premium segment, but major manufacturers like Samsung and Motorola are also battling in the budget segment.
Lenovo has just announced their upcoming budget phone, the Lenovo A6000. The device is said to be competing directly with the recently announced Micromax Yu Yureka which will run on the Cyanogen OS. Lenovo A6000 price is also set competitive to Yu Yerak at $169 (INR 10,500). However, Flipkart, the online retailer which will be selling the device exclusively in India, has commented that it’ll cost less than INR 10,000 in the country.
Lenovo A600 specs include a 5-inch IPS screen with a display resolution of 720×1280 pixels, 8MP camera on the back with LED Flash and a 2MP camera on front. The device will powered by 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) processor coupled with 1GB RAM.
The device will be running Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box with Lenovo’s Vibe UI 2.0 skin atop. Lenovo A600 is backed by a decent 2300 mAh battery, which according to the official documents can go up to 13 hours on call and 26 hours on standby. Measured at 141 x 70 x 8.2 mm, the device weighs 128 grams.
Lenovo hasn’t given any word on the release date of the device, but we’d guess it to be as soon as next month. Being in the budget segment, Lenovo A6000’s price will play a critical role in its sales, specially in India where the Yu Yureka will be going on sale starting 13th January for INR 8,999 ($140).
