Huawei Mate 9 launched in late 2016 and is already running the latest Android Oreo. To improve it further, the company is rolling out a new update that brings more than this month’s Android security patches to the device.
The Mate 9 update, which carries software version 8.0.0.368(C10), also comes with optimizations for the screen recording feature that allows users to record screens without time limits. The Gallery app also benefits from this update, where the display filter names on the photo editing screen have seen some improvements.

After the update, Huawei Mate 9 users will be able to make VoWiFi calls, or simply Wi-Fi Calling, a feature that will only work if your carrier supports the technology. Make sure you confirm with your provider and see if this feature is supported.
This update is rolling out over the air and thus it should take several days before all Huawei Mate 9 units receive the download notification. A similar update is also rolling out to the Huawei Honor 7X and Nova 2i (Mate 10 Lite/Honor 9i) that also brings Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology to the handsets in question. The Mate 9 will join the party in September or October.
