JDI has released a new 23-second video showing off its flexible display in action.
As you can see from the video embedded below, JDI’s flexible panel has minimal bezels like the ones we have seen on Samsung and LG’s flexible panels before.
It looks like the flexible panel from JDI (Japan Display Inc.) would allow users to navigate through the OS based on the twist angle. That’s not clear nor is it certain for now, though.
Earlier this year, JDI had revealed that it’s working on a new flexible LCD panel which was then referred to as “Full Active Flex” by the company.

It had also revealed that mass production of this new type of LCD display will begin sometime in 2018 for use in smartphones and other consumer electronics.
Samsung is also believed to kickstart the mass-production of flexible OLED panels in the second half of 2018. The company, in fact, is setting up a new factory in South Korea to manufacture the same.
Now, this could mean that we are not very far away from the point where flexible OLED panels on smartphones won’t be a distant dream anymore. They may hit the market sooner or later. But know that they are coming whether you like it or not.
