One can find the rumors about the next nexus popping here and there, every now and then. It could be LG Optimus G, we knew that, but it could be HTC One X too, we’ve just found. And if the latter happens, it might be known as Nexus 5. Bingo!
Anyway, I really don’t think there is too much truth buried anywhere deep inside this rumor.
Moreover, first of all, we need a phone from Google, and 5-inch phablet may not sound that cool to everyone – even though Samsung sold millions of 5.3-inch Galaxy Note successfully and has come with another one, the Galaxy Note 2, measuring 5.5 inch.
Second, look at 4.7-inch LG Optimus G Specs: 2 GB RAM, in-cell HD IPS display with 1280 x 768 pixels, super-duper 1.5 GHz quad-core S4 Krait processor, 13 MP camera, 8.5 mm thick, etc., it looks pretty good spec-sheet for a phone to be a Nexus. And besides that, it would provide LG a helping hand it desperately needs to establish itself in smartphone industry. Nexus has done wonders for both Samsung and HTC, so LG quite deserves it too given their initiative in hardware.
Of course, the HTC One X5, also known as HTC Droid Incredible X for Verizon in US, has pretty solid specs too: whopping 480 PPI thanks to 1920 x 1080 pixels IPS 5-inch display, same RAM and processor as that of Optimus G, etc. stuff. But since it’s a 5-inch phablet device, more in competition with Galaxy Note than with Galaxy S3 or Optimus G (even though the difference between display size is more when compared to 5.5 inch Note 2 than 4.7 inch Galaxy S3 and Optimus G), many users may not find it their choice of phone, or a Nexus.
But anyway, the rumor is just one our-tipster-said-that thing right now, no solid foundation at all, of which Optimus G has a bit, FYI. So let’s see what happens from here. One thing is sure – there would be a Nexus pretty soon even though it means pretty late by now to some android enthusiasts, and that some certain OEMs are trying hard to convince Google that their this next project, ahem device, is best suited to become the next nexus.
We just gotta wait and see whether we will be buying LG Optimus Nexus this fall or HTC Nexus 5. What do you say?
