Looks like Google may be testing the latest Android O preview on the ageing Motorola Nexus 6. The device was spotted running the Android O preview on Google Git. Although, don’t get too excited.
Google does this all the time. They test older devices to see if they can run the latest and greatest Android version. Sometimes the devices get lucky, and sometimes they don’t. Could be the same case with the Nexus 6.

The Nexus 6 was also spotted running the Android 7.1.2 Nougat software. However, Google released the software and ended up not supporting this device. Most likely, this is just a test, and will remain that.
The search giant had also recently announced that the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will not get any more software updates after Android 7.1.1. A similar thing happened with the Nexus 5 as well, where the device was spotted running Android Nougat, but never got the update.

Fake news again, like the other click bait sites.
Exactly.
It’s click bait but it’s not fake. Google does have a history of posting code to Git of this nature. Remmeber that there was a Git for the Nexus 4 on Marshmallow.

We at Little Green Dude made this mistake in talking about Lollipop on the Nexus 4. It’s not going to happen. It’s just the way they make commits for certain things. Happens every year.
Just went to the Android developer website and Nexus 6 is NOT supported for testing O
He’s talking about Google’s Git repos, not the developer website, and he’s right that Google always does this. They had a Git repos for the Nexus 4 on Marshmallow, and the Nexus 5 on Nougat. I don’t know why they do it since they never release it.
I see! Thanx for the clarification.

Nexus 6 has received support for the past two years anyway. Anything beyond this point is a bonus. Either ways, custom roms and lineage OS are always on the standby. Its been 4 years and nexus 5 still lives on.

this will the best news that Nexus 6 users ever heard!! it’s really great to see that Google really want even their old phone user to experience the originality of clean ROM from the manufacturer rather than downloading some custom ROM!!
