Destiny 2 players have been waiting for some new weapons in the game and the devs have answered their players with the new Ikelos roster of guns. Included in this new roster are the Ikelos Sniper Rifle, the Ikelos SMG, the First in Last out shotgun, and the Berenger’s Memory Grenade launcher.

With the Season 1 end on the horizon, many players wish to replace recluse which will be power capped at the end of season 1. The Ikelos SMG seems like a perfect all-around replacement. So if you are looking to get the Ikelos SMG then let’s take a look at how you can do so.

How to get the Ikelos SMG

The Ikelos SMG can be unlocked through the Exodus Engram. Currently, this Engram has all the weapons introduced with the Ikelos roster. This means that you have an equal chance of receiving either the Ikelos SR, the Ikelos SMG, the First in Last out Shotgun, or the Bergenger’s memory grenade at each draw.

As you might have guessed you have a 1 in 4 chance of getting the SMG on your first draw. This means that you might have to draw a few times on the Exodus Engram before you receive the Ikelos SMG.

There is however a way to narrow down your chances of getting the Ikelos SMG during your draws which will take a look at later on in this guide. First, let’s take a look at how you can earn some Exodus Engrams in the game.

How to get Exodus Engrams

Exodus Engrams are offered as rewards for weekly bounty challenges under the Exodus Preparation Quest. This Quest will take across 4 planets, Titan, IO, Mars, and Mercury. Each location will offer you a quest which will reward you with a handful of Exodus Engrams.

Each quest will basically be a strike or killing a few enemies at a particular location. Completing these objectives will award you with Exodus Engrams. To get started, visit Commander Zavalla.

Now simply talk to him to start the ‘Exodus Preparation’ quest.

Starting the quest will first send you to Field Commander Sloane on Titan. You can talk to her and pick up one of the weekly bounties with Exodus Engrams as its rewards.

Each mission will usually involve a strike or enemy target. Completing the weekly bounty should award with you Exodus Engrams.

Once you have completed the bounty, head back and talk to Commander Sloane.

You should now be able to collect your award.

Once you have collected your reward, it is now time to redeem it. Head back to the Umbral decoder to get started.

Now simply decrypt your Engrams and you should be award the Ikelos SMG within the first few draws.

If you weren’t able to get the SMG then simply continue with the Exodus Preparation quest to earn more Engrams. You can then redeem them to get the Ikelos SMG.

Other Planets you can visit for more Exodus Engrams from weekly bounties

  • IO – Asher Mir
  • Mercury – Brother Vance
  • Mars – Anna

Each of these characters will offer weekly bounties with Exodus Engrams as their reward which will help you earn more of them to increase your chances at getting the Ikelos SMG.

How to narrow down your odds for the Ikelos SMG on the Exodus Engram decryption

Instead of having a 33.3333% chance of receiving the Ikelos SMG, you can increase your chances to 50% by using the Prismatic recaster to create Exodus focused Engrams from your normal Umbral Engrams. You will be given recasting choices where you can select the Ikelos SMG to increase your chances of getting this item.

However, recasting with the Prismatic Recaster uses up your Altered Elements and depending on the recast even a Trace Override in some specific cases. Hence if you do not wish to grind for these items or do not have them in your inventory, then you are probably better off grinding straight away for Exodus Engrams and sticking with your 1 in 4 draws chances.

What is God Roll?

God Roll is a draw where you get the highest possible configuration for an item in Destiny 2. This means that if you are looking for a particular gun, then getting its best possible configuration on your draw would be a god roll. God roll configurations for a particular weapon are determined by Destiny 2’s developers, Bungie.

This means that a god roll draw of Ikelos SMG will have all the necessary attachments and perks that work the best according to the developers. However, god rolls exist on a personal basis as well in case you value a particular stat of your weapon and it greatly benefits your gameplay. Current God roll stats for the Ikelos SMG according to Bungie are as follows.

PVE God Roll for the Ikelos SMG

  • Corkscrew Rifling
  • Extended Mag
  • Subsistence
  • Demolitionist/ Surrounded
