Huawei has begun a beta program for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Mate S. Anybody who wishes to test the software update for possible bugs/issues for the manufacturer is welcome to send their IMEI to the following email address matesbetatest@huawei.com and they shall get the update before everyone else for testing purposes.
Folks who have installed the Marshmallow beta firmware on their Huawei Mate S reports the beta build to be running perfectly and without any issues on their devices. So we guess it’s safe to install the beta build, if you can’t for the update to arrive officially for everyone.
However, for the folks among us, who care about root access, please be warned that it hasn’t been confirmed on the Huawei Mate S Marshmallow update yet. Although, chances are very slim of it not being rootable, but if it is something you can’t live without, then we would recommend you to wait for someone knowledgeable to confirm first if the Mate S Marshmallow build is rootable or not.
If you ask us, we think Chainfire’s systemless root would easily root Mate S Marshmallow update. But as things are looking right now, you might be needing a modified boot image as well along with the SuperSU zip flash from recovery to get on Marshmallow.
We’d let you know if there is development on Huawei Mate S Marshmallow root status. Stay tuned..
Happy Androiding!
