The HTC U Ultra is one of the first of the next generation premium devices from HTC. The GFXbench benchmark of the HTC U Ultra tells us that the smartphone stays relatively close to the HTC 10 in terms of performance.
Though the performance of the HTC U Ultra is about a tad bit below the previous year’s flagship, that shouldn’t make a real time difference in a day to day usage scenario. HTC has implemented many different bells and whistles into the U Ultra, probably due to the common gripe being that OEMs don’t bring any new technology to the table.
With the secondary display sitting on the top portion of the device, one could argue that this was inspired by LG. With the U Ultra, HTC has also opted to kick out the headphone jack and go for a sleeker profile. HTC claims that the addition of the extra DACs built into the device is a sufficient enough reason to remove the 3.5mm jack and use an USB type C port for a richer audio experience.
Nevertheless, this does cause some inconvenience to the user. Overall, the HTC U Ultra is an excellent device and HTC may well be heading into a new direction with this years upcoming devices.
