The HTC U Play has been officially announced and it is looking pretty sweet. The U Play, which was leaked a few days back, could probably be a first of the many devices to come to feature HTC’s new design aspect.

Specs: The smartphone carries over the same display size as the HTC 10 with a 5.2-inch 1080p display. Metal bands run all around the edges of the device and the front and back are both protected by Gorilla Glass. The back features a new translucent glossy design which HTC calls Liquid surface.

Inside, the HTC U Play rocks a Mediatek Helio P10 processor, a 16MP main shooter and a 12MP Ultra Pixel front camera, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of on board storage. All of this runs on a 2500mAh battery pack which should just get you through the day unless HTC has optimized the software for longer battery life, but that remains yet to be seen.

The main highlight of the U Play is the HTC Sense Companion assistant that will provide you with important information and function in a similar way to the Google assistant. HTC has also integrated four always-on microphones into the device, which helps it listen and react to your voice commands pretty quickly and accurately.

Unlike the higher end HTC U Ultra, which was announced alongside the U Play, HTC seems to have omitted the secondary display on the U Play. The U Play comes in four color variants: black, white, pink and Sapphire blue and will be shipping with Android 7.0 Nougat.

HTC U Play price isn’t available at the moment, while it’s expected to be released in February 2017.
