Only a couple of days ago, HTC revealed that it is hosting an event on May 16 where the company is expected to pull the wraps off its much talked about handset, the HTC U 11. Wait, what? So, now they are calling it the HTC U 11? In short, yes!

There has been so much confusion regarding the HTC’s upcoming flagship’s moniker. While some were referring to it as the HTC U, others were calling it the HTC Ocean. We ourselves were pretty much confused by the naming convention for a while.

Thankfully, VentureBeat has now cleared the air once and for all. It reported that the yet-to-be-launched smartphone will go with the moniker HTC U 11 based on the information it learned from an individual who is aware of the company’s plans.

As cited in its report, the new moniker comes “in an effort to bridge past and present naming schemes.” And, it pretty much makes sense whether you like it or not. While the number 11 signifies that the smartphone is the successor of HTC 10, the U in the moniker places it in line with the latest HTC U series.

Besides, the report also revealed that the HTC U 11 would be made available to users in five different hues namely: Black, Blue, Red, Silver, and White. However, not all of these colors will be made available in all regions.
