Prior to the launch of the HTC One M9 and Samsung Galaxy S6, there were reports circulating all over the tech media that Samsung ditched the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 variant of its flagship this time due to overheating issues. Following this, there were reports suggesting that the overheating issues of the chipset have been overcome permanently.

Several manufacturers such as LG, Xiaomi and HTC have also incorporated the Snapdragon 810 SoC in their high end offerings. While the makers have not come up with any complaints regarding the chipset, the AnTuTu benchmark of the One M9 that was launched on Sunday at the MWC 2015 tech show in Barcelona is likely to have revealed the heating issue.

The information comes in from a Romanian website as a person from that website wanted to see how the HTC One M9 performs on benchmark. While the One M8 scored in the range between 42,000 and 43,000 in AnTuTu, its successor is expected to achieve a much higher score. But, the report claims that instead of scoring, a message popped up reading, “The device temperature is too high. Please test again after cooling the device. Continue testing may cause the system to restart or shut down.”

Notably, the LG G Flex 2 that was launched at the CES 2015 tech show in January has not suffered any such overheating issues. The handset also went on sale in its homeland South Korea and none of the users have raised such an issue. This error that is reportedly to have popped while testing the score of the One M9 has rekindled the fears of overheating of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset.
