HTC’s VP of Product management, Mo Versi, announced earlier today that Android 6.0 Marshmallow update with Sense 7 for HTC One M8 will be coming within the next 24 hours for factory unlocked variants of the device.
We guess we’re already halfway into the 24 hour timeline, so the Marshmallow update for the One M8 could be coming any moment now. This is a great news.
However, the rooted users among us might be concerned of root access on M8 after the Marshmallow update. Well, for the user’s with factory unlocked variants of the device, it shouldn’t be a concern since you can always install customized software as long as bootloader unlocked.
To root HTC One M8 Marshmallow build all you’ll need is a modified boot flashable either via fastboot or TWRP recovery. This will allow for rooting the device later via SuperSU install from recovery.
HTC One M8 Marshmallow update will also support the recently released systemless root by Chainfire, which doesn’t modifies anything on the system partition, so that you can easily install OTA updates by flashing the stock boot image back on the device.
HTC One M8 modified boot with support for root on Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be available once the update either via OTA or full RUU firmware. However, it might take a couple of days until the devices gets root on Marshmallow. If you’re someone who can’t live a single day without root, we would recommend you to stay off the Marshmallow update for a few days until safe way to root is available.
We’ll be sure to update this post once the modified boot is available at xda or other Android communities. Stay tuned..
