“The big thing” booms out on Twitter, when Mo hits his tweet suggesting that HTC have received the source code from Google of the most anticipated update of Android 5.0 and is around the corner for HTC One (M8) and (M7), importantly within 90 days, ending up his tweet with a hash tag #HTCAdvantage. No doubt Mo, too many advantages for HTC One (M8) and (M7) users, perhaps when it’s an Android 5.0 spin.

Just after Google announced Android 5.0 Lollipop in June, there were confirmations from device makers regarding which of their flagship devices are gonna taste the sweet flavor of Android, but none of these confirmations were official. The official Android 5.0 update schedule is confirmed by the OEM for all the supported device. Hopefully, the first models to receive Lollipop will HTC One (M8) and (M7) GPE  (Google Play Edition), while the original variants will get Android 5.0 starting with January – February 2015.

We’ve already seen the brand new HTC Nexus 9 tablet running Android 5.0, whcih makes us believe that HTC One M7 GPE edition will probably be updated with Android 5.0 in early December. After all the Google Play Editions of HTC One models will be updated with the new OS and as 2015 arrives we should be getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop rolled out for the original HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 sense based smartphones.

The delay for original variants of HTC One M7  and HTC One M8 is probably due to HTC’s Sense UI. HTC will have to integrate all the new features and themes for their HTC Sense interface corresponding it to Material Design and it looks like it’s taking a bit of time for them to be a successor. Anyway, we’ve already seen two of the leaked screenshots of HTC Sense 7. And this confirmation should further kill the wait for other Blinkfeed Material UI screenshots, possibly by January we can head up with them.

After the Android 5.0 Update is made available for the One models, the roll out will continue and it will then be released in January – March time frame for the following HTC models: Desire EYE, One M8 Dual SIM, One M7 Dual SIM, One E8, One E8 Dual SIM and Butterfly 2. In March – April Android 5.0 Lollipop will be released for HTC One Mini 2 and Desire 816, while the HTC One Max, One Mini and Butterfly S should be getting Lollipop treatment before the end of May 2015. The other device owners can get their update status checked here.

Well, HTC is trying to be transparent with their update process. They’ve uploaded a flow chart on their website, to make people understand on how things go with an Android OTA (Over-The-Air) update.
