Update [May 05, 2017]: Users in Hong Kong are now receiving the Android 7.0 update on their HTC One A9 handset. The Nougat build comes as software version 2.17.708.2 while weighing in at 1.16 GB. Besides the Nougat upgrade, the update also packs in latest security patch, which we think would be for the month of April 2017, or else, March 2017. The Android 7.0 update gets you improved battery life thanks to better Doze mode, greater multitasking via split-screen feature, redesigned Settings app and notifications shade, features direct reply and bundled notifications, etc. stuff, all of which make it a very stable and great OS.
Update [April 20, 2017]: Android 7.0 Nougat is finally hitting the Indian variant of the One A9. The update, which goes by build 2.18.707.1, installs the latest security patch in addition to delivering the new bells and whistles from Nougat. The update introduces many under the hood performance improvements, thereby giving you a snappy user experience. The OTA update is sized at around 1GB, so download it over WiFi to save on additional charges.
Update [April 06, 2017]: The European variant of the HTC One A9 is receiving an update. Coming in as software version 2.17.401.2, the Nougat based update installs the February security patch, which seems to have come in pretty late. It also brings in improvements to performance and fixes a few bugs too. The update will first make its way to Belgium and will then spread to other European countries.
Update [February 21, 2017]: HTC One A9 users in Taiwan are now up for sweetness of Nougat update, which brings some of the coolest features now available on Android OS. HTC has begun rolling out software version 2.16.709.3 in Taiwan, which gets the users their an upgrade to Android 7.0 along with latest security update, which should be patches for the month of January or February 2017. The One A9 Nougat build weighs in at 1.3GB, and is available for download now. Check for the update now under Settings.
Update [February 18, 2017]: HTC One A9 devices in Vietnam have started receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update. Arriving as software version 2.16.425.4, the update weighs 1.08GB. The OS update also installs the latest Android security patch. Other than bringing the regular Nougat goodies, it also comes with system enhancements.
Update [February 15, 2017]: Sprint is now rolling Android 7.0 Nougat to HTC One A9 in the US as an OTA update with software version 2.18.651.2. The update is 1.08GB in size and brings along latest Android security patches and system enhancements to the device.
Update [January 17, 2017]: BIG UPDATE! HTC has begun rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the One A9 users in Europe. The update is based on Android 7.0, and also installs the security patch for the month of December/January. The screenshots you see above are the confirmation of the update.
The Android 7.0 update should be available at HTC One A9 sets in USA, that are in use at AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint pretty soon, now that it’s out for the global variant. Although it could be in February 2017 and this comes true. At the moment, only T-Mobile HTC 10 has received the Nougat build in the US, apart from the unlocked variant, while no other HTC device has received the Nougat build at any carrier.
Update [November 10, 2016]: The European model of HTC One A9 is receiving a new update today t software version 1.56.401.81, coming is at size of 535.6 MB. The update brings the latest monthly security patch from Google for Android devices, and also improves system performance. That’s all that is available from the changelog, but we hope it’s a pre-Nougat update for the HTC One A9, whom HTC promised to update to Android 7.0 before the end of December 2016.
The Sprint HTC One A9 is receiving a new update today, one that ups the software version to 1.60.651.4. The update aims to bring improvements to GSM Data Roaming. That’s it about the changelog, although bug fixes and monthly security patches could very well be part of the update. If you travel a lot, make sure to update ASAP.
Sprint says that the 1.6.1.651.4 update is already available as OTA, form June 15, and the rollout will be finished by June 24.
Sure, it’s not an update to to make you desperate, but needed to know anyway what’s the latest version for your Sprint One A9, right?
