Smartphone companies have made rather a habit of following up their successful devices with multiple variants. Along the same lines HTC which announced the One M9 at the MWC Barcelona, may just be prepping to launch a M9 Plus — expected to come with a 5.2” QHD display 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of expandable memory — pretty soon.
Although, rumors have been floating about the Plus version since quite some while, we didnt really had anything concrete to base our assumptions on. However, a recent leak which consisted of several pictures supposedly depicting the One M9 Plus has provided us with some fodder. According to the pictures HTC — in what may be a first for the company — may opt for a physical home button for the plus variant. In fact, the pictures zoom on the button, making sure that no one misses it.
These images if true, point towards what seems to us to be an integrated fingerprint scanner — hence the need for a physical button — similar to what Samsung did with several of its newer devices.
While we have no way of knowing for sure to whom the images really belong to, what with all the rumors and the fact that it does seem to resemble the M9, the device featured above may actually the One M9 Plus. The device will supposedly launch in two variants with one of them specifically aimed at asian market running on a MediaTek MT6795 processor while the other model features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810.
In other news, a Plus version of the HTC One E9 — which is itself a rumor at the moment – was also rumored. However, considering that nothing approaching solid fact is known about the E9, it might be a better idea to focus on the M9 Plus at the moment.
