So folks located outside the U.S or Japan, may soon get a taste of 5-inch 1080p Full HD display goodness. We already know that the HTC Butterfly has been announced by HTC as the international cousin of the Japanese HTC J Butterfly and the Verizon exclusive – the HTC Droid DNA.
The Full HD 1080p display toting smartphone is now being listed on Expansys Italy, as well as Expansys.com for pre-order which means that the English speaking world can thank their luck too. And unlike the HTC Droid DNA from Verizon, HTC has been gracious enough to include an expandable memory card slot this time, and we think that’s a nice touch given Full HD videos do take up a good chuck of available memory.
No pricing has been listed on the website as yet, but Android Caotic, an Italian Android blog seems to think it will be priced at around 699 € in Italy, with pricing for the rest of Europe being approximately 100 € lesser at 599 €. And the good thing about pre-ordering with Expansys is that you won’t be charged anything till sales actually start, and can confirm at the time whether or not you want to go ahead with the purchase. So there’s really nothing to lose, and a headstart to be gained.
Here’s a quick recap of the specs which should help you make up your mind about pre-ordering it:
- 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 processor
- 2GB RAM
- 5-inch Super LCD3 display (1920 x 1080 pixels)
- 8 megapixel rear camera, 1080p video recording
- 2.1 megapixel front camera
- 16GB storage, microSD slot
- Wi-Fi, HSPA, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS + GLONASS, NFC
- 2,020mAh battery
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, HTC Sense 4+ UI
We know HTC has not been doing too well as far as revenue streams are concerned, but this could well be a device which can help turn that around. And by now, if you’re already reaching for that credit card, just hit the links below to reserve a HTC Butterfly for yourself.
