What to know

  • Sora lets you re-cut AI videos so you can trim or extend the videos as you like.
  • Find a Sora-generated AI video, click on Re-cut, and use the video editing options to trim the video, split it, and extend cuts using the Create button.
  • You can also change the video resolution, duration, and style while re-cutting, as well as edit the prompt of the video.

Sora's AI video editing abilities are as exceptional as its ability to generate AI videos. But if you're new to OpenAI's text-to-video tool, you'll need a primer on how to use Sora to generate AI videos as well as edit them in several different ways. To that end, here's what you need to know to re-cut AI videos in Sora.

How to use Sora to recut AI videos

Re-cut lets you trim or extend the cuts in the AI video. This is quite a handy feature for when you come across someone's creation that inspires you or simply to better edit your own Sora-generated videos. Here's how to go about it.

Step 1: Find and open the AI video that you want to recut.

Step 2: Then click on Re-cut in the bottom row.

Step 3: This will open up the Storyboard editor. You'll see the video in the timeline with a preview on top.

Step 4: Once you have the AI video in the timeline, drag the edges to trim the video or to isolate the cut that you want to extend.

Step 4.1 (Optional): You can also split the video into multiple sections. Do this by hovering over the video and pressing S. Or click on the three-dot icon underneath and select Split.

Step 4.2 (Optional): If you need to convert the video to text, click on the 'Convert to text' icon in the preview.

Step 4.3 (Optional): Then copy or edit the prompt as you see fit.

Step 4.4 (Optional): Use the video setting options to change aspect ratio, video res, duration, style, etc.

Step 5: Click on Create to extend the cut.

Step 6: Wait for Sora to do its magic. Once done, you'll be able to see the extended cut in the playback.

If you like what you see, favorite, share, or download the video.
