It’s been more than a year since the personal Artificial Intelligence (AI) based Google Assistant was launched by as a part of Google’s chat app, Allo. Eventually, Google Assistant was introduced as a standalone service for all Android phones running Android 6.0 and above.
Being a powerful Assistant, Google Assistant nails most (if not all) queries thrown at it. And even better, it’s very easy to launch Google Assistant — you either hold down the Home button (physical or capacitive) or you use the command ‘Ok Google’ to launch Google Assistant. Both the methods work from any screen, you don’t have to be on the home screen to launch Assistant.

While ‘Ok Google’ command works flawlessly, you can also turn it off easily in case you don’t want to launch Assistant using voice command. Wondering how to do so? Just follow the steps given below.
How to turn off ‘Ok Google’ detection on Android
- Open Google app on your device.
- Tap the three horizontal bar menu to open navigation drawer » select Settings.
- Under Google Assistant label, tap Settings again.
- Select Phone and toggle ‘Ok Google‘ detection off to turn it off.
That’s it.
