How to Root AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge on new OE2 update (G925AUCU1AOE2)

Update (March 6, 2015): There is a better root solution available for AT&T Galaxy S6 devices (S6, S6 Edge and Edge Plus) that roots all available updates too. Get it on the link below.

Good news folks! You can now root the AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge (SM-G925A) even if you have updated the phone to latest build, G925AUCU1AOE2. Called the OE2 update in short, the main purpose of the update it seems was to block root on previous firmware. The OE2 update could not be rooted at first, but thanks to Keen team of amazing PingPong root tool, the OE2 firmware is now root friendly too.

The Keen team added the support for the G925AUCU1AOE2 firmware only recently and thus all you need to root your AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge is download the app and then run it.

(Those on older firmware can also use this root tool straight away, but we recommend you upgrade to latest OE2 firmware first.)

So, let’s check how do you root AT&T S6 Edge on OE2 firmware.

Check out the attached files section on the above page, and download the APK (latest version) from there.

  1. Enable Unknown sources.
    1. Go to Settings > Lock screen and security.
    2. Find the option ‘Unknown sources’ and tap on its toggle button to enable it.
    3. Tap on OK on the pop-up that shows up.
  2. Download the PingPong root tool from above. If you download on PC, transfer the APK to phone.
  3. Install the App using its APK. Open the ‘My files’ app and go the the folder where you have the PingPong’s APK. (Which folder you ask? Well, it would be in download folder if you downloaded it on phone, otherwise to the folder in which you transferred it if you you downloaded it on PC.) Btw, if you just downloaded it on phone, you’ll have a notification saying ‘download complete’, simply tap on it to install the app using the APK.
  4. Tap on Get Root! button. (That app is really simple and very minimal.)
  5. The PingPong app will install SuperSU app first, and then go on to root your device. If you do open SuperSU app after it’s installed, press the back button to come back to PingPong.
  6. You’ll get a pop-up saying Please wait!!. So, do just that and avoid doing anything on phone for the time being. Let the app do its work, you shall have root access on your AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge soon.
  7. Reboot your device. Upon successful installation, you’ll get a pop-up saying Root done. Tap on OK. Now, hold power button, and then tap on Reboot on the pop-up.
  8. Let device reboot. Confirm root access by installing a root checker app from the play store. Open the app, and tap on ‘Verify Root Status’ to find root access. Grant it permission when a pop-up shows up.
  9. Just in case a problem arises, try the download data button first, and when its done its job, tap on Get Root! button thereafter.
  10. For more help, read the Q&A section of the root tool’s original page (from where you downloaded it).
