Well, for now, OE2 firmware for AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge cannot be rooted. Yup, but that doesn’t mean you cannot get root access back on your S6 Edge. What you can do if you want the root as badly as we want, is, install the good-ol’ OCE firmware back. But is OE2 downgradable? Where are the OCE Odin files, I never saw it? Well, don’t worry we’ve got you covered, OE2 is perfectly downgradable and Odin flashable files of OCE firmware are also available that you can use to downgrade to OCE firmware.
First off, after installing the OCE firmware, be sure to download the pingpong root app and use it to root your AT&T S6 Edge. And of course, don’t update to OE2 again till it’s confirmed that it’s root-able. Right?
So, here’s what you should do:
- Install OCE firmware over the OE2 firmware that you currently have installed.
- Head over to PingPong Root tool and root your device by using the latest version available there (v5.2 right now).
Alternate method:
Btw, if you don’t wish to downgrade back to OCE firmware, you can simply downgrade the kernel to that of OCE using Odin, and try PingPong root then, even when rest of the phone is on OE2. Download the OCE-kernel from here, and flash it on your phone using Odin 3.10.6 (AP tab).
