Cash App is becoming an increasingly popular alternative to, well, cash — you know, that notoriously unhygenic paper you used to stuff into your wallet — and stands as one of the bigger names in the e-wallet space. Not only does it free you up from the necessity of running to an ATM all the time, it also comes with a customizable Cash App card that can be used like any other debit card, whether it be at the gas station, department store, or even online on Amazon. Plus, you can draw on it to get a custom, laser-etched design. It’s pretty cool, and thankfully pretty easy to order one for yourself for free.
How to Order a Cash App Card
Open up the Cash App Card Tab
On the bottom of the main balance screen, tap on the second tab from the left. This will open up the Cash App Card tab, giving you a list of options to choose from.
Tap Get Free Cash Card
If you haven’t ordered a Cash App card before and don’t have one linked to your Cash App account, you’ll be presented with the option to order your card. Click on Get Free Cash Card in the lower half of the screen.
Choose Your Finish
Next you’ll start building your card by selecting your custom finish. The black and white finishes are both free, while a special Glow in the Dark variant will cost you five extra bucks. Choose the finish you’d like and press Next.
(Optional) Personalize Your Card
As an added option, you can choose to personalize the face of your new Cash App card. You can draw whatever you want it, from a custom signature to whatever springs from your imagination. There’s also a custom stamp library in case finger-painting on your phone isn’t your style. Don’t be too excited, however, there aren’t any real drawing tools. No eraser or line tool — just you and your suddenly enormous fingertips. So don’t expect to create a masterwork without hours of agony.
Enter Your Information
Up next you’ll have enter your information so Cash App knows where to send your card — and who they’re sending it to. After entering your address, name, and the last 4 digits of your SSN you’ll have to input your full legal name and the rest of your Social.
Wait for Your New Cash App Card
Once you’ve input all of your information, all that’s left to do is sit back and await your customized Cash App card. It should take about 5-7 days to arrive at the address you entered, but until then you can simply use Cash App on your phone.
