Instagram’s Story Comments feature opens up a new way to interact with your followers and spark a conversation. But if you have a few bad actors commenting on your story, you have the option to block them from commenting or change who gets to comment on your story so they’re excluded. Here’s how to go about it.
Block people from commenting on your Instagram story
- Open Instagram and tap on your profile icon.
- Tap on the hamburger icon and select Settings and privacy.
- Scroll down and select ‘Comments‘ under ‘How others can interact with you’.
- Tap on Stories.
- Tap on Block comments from.
- Search for the user whom you want to block and tap on Block.

Change who gets to comment on your story
Users with a Private account can allow comments from their Followers or Followers they follow back. Public accounts can allow comments from Everyone or Followers they follow back. Here’s how to change it:
- Open Instagram and tap on your profile icon.

- Scroll down and select ‘Comments‘ under ‘How others can interact with you’.
- Tap on Stories.
- Under ‘Controls’, select who can comment on your story.
