Honor 9 is now receiving Android 8.0 Oreo in the UK. The update brings along Huawei’s trademark EMUI 8.0 skin, ending months of agony for UK users of the phone.
The long wait had some people doubting whether the device would be upgraded to Oreo. To calm them down, Huawei’s Honor division went on record in January 2018 to confirm that Honor 9 will receive Oreo, but there was no mention of a specific release date.
Months later, way after the OS rolled out in China, folks in the UK can now sigh in relief as Honor UK has taken to Twitter to announce that Honor 9 is now receiving Android Oreo. Although the wait has been pretty long for a device launched in mid-2017, especially considering how impressive Huawei has been with Oreo software updates, the best thing is that it’s here.
It’s an OTA update and thus it’ll take some time before everyone gets a notification to download it. There’s the option to wait for the notification, but you can also try to trigger the update manually via the About device section in the Settings menu.
