How to Hide Icons from Status bar on Marshmallow

Like your Status bar clean? Well, with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and its new (hidden) SystemUI Tuner setting, you can now disable some of the persistent status bar icons from various Android services.

Below is the list of icons that you can remove from your status bar on Marshmallow:

  • Cast
  • Hotspot
  • Bluetooth
  • Do not disturb
  • Alarm
  • Work profile
  • Wi-Fi
  • Ethernet
  • Mobile data
  • Aeroplane mode
How to Remove Status Bar Icons on Marshmallow
  1. Enable SystemUI Tuner.
  2. Go to Settings > SystemUI Tuner.
  3. Select “Status bar” and toggle off icons for any of the services you see on the list.

Note: Use this with caution, there may be certain service icons that you may not always want to hide/remove from the Status bar.

Happy Andoiding!

  1. […] than it shows. Like the System UI Tuner which let’s you customize Quick settings panel and Status bar icons, there’s another hidden feature on Marshmallow that let’s you view multiple apps […]

  2. Why there is no option to hide “Location” icon from status bar. I want to keep Location Services on on my phone and hide the icon from status bar so that no one can easily turn off the Location Services incase my phone is lost. 🙂
