The company initially introduced this nifty feature in 2022 but kept it exclusive to certain users. Now, whether you’re a personal Google account user or a Workspace subscriber, you can enjoy the convenience of automatic video centering.
The feature kicks in before you join a meeting, ensuring you’re perfectly centered in the frame. You won’t have to fiddle around adjusting your position anymore. To keep things smooth and distraction-free, the auto-framing occurs just once during your video call.
Google has also spruced up the virtual background experience. The new update keeps you consistently centered even when using a virtual background, preventing any distracting shifts in the frame. This enhancement ensures your background stays fixed while keeping you in focus.
If you’re not a fan of automatic framing, don’t worry. You can easily turn it off in the settings. For those not using virtual backgrounds, you can manually reframe yourself by hovering over your video tile and clicking the reframe option.
