What to know
- Zoom Enhance feature is now available on Pixel 8 Pro.
- The feature works on-device and can enhance details in photos.
- Find ‘Zoom Enhance’ under the Tools tab in Google Photos.
Google has officially launched its Zoom Enhance feature for Pixel 8 Pro users. This new tool, available in Google Photos, allows users to zoom in and improve the quality of their images after they’ve been taken.
To use Zoom Enhance, Pixel 8 Pro owners need to open Google Photos and select the Tools tab. The feature appears alongside other editing options like Magic Eraser and Unblur. Zoom in and move to the desired area of the photo, then tap “Enhance details”.
One of the key aspects of Zoom Enhance is that it operates entirely on the device. As such, you can use the feature even when there’s no internet connectivity so long as the photo is stored on your device, so don’t forget to download it first if it’s not.
Currently, Zoom Enhance is exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro. It will also be available on future models like the Pixel 9 Pro, 9 Pro X, and 9 Pro Fold soon enough. The feature works with any photo, including those taken with non-Pixel cameras or even old images.
Zoom Enhance can be useful in various scenarios, such as:
- Improving details in distant objects.
- Enhancing text in signs photographed from afar.
- Reframing shots without losing quality.
- Breathing new life into old, low-quality photos.
Google notes that the feature is still in its early stages and may produce unexpected results.
