The 2017 Google Pixel 2 will remain a premium handset, and there will be no cheaper version, says the head of the hardware department at Google, Rick Osterloh. The current Google Pixel is a premium smartphone, one that is completely designed by Google and manufactured by HTC.
There were a few rumors about the Pixel 2 being a little cheaper, as the original Pixel devices are in the higher-priced segment. Unfortunately, that is not going to happen, and the 2017 Pixel smartphones would also carry a similar price tag.
In an interview, Rick Osterloh stated that Google plans to follow an annual release rhythm when it comes to the Pixel. That means that we can expect the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 to arrive in October 2017.
We can expect the Pixel 2 to be more refined and better than its predecessor, obviously. The phone would most likely come with the Snapdragon 835 processor, improved cameras, new features and could also be waterproof. Apparently, Google did not have enough time to include this feature in the Pixel. There’s still plenty of months before we start hearing rumors, reports and see leaks about the Pixel 2.
