The Google Home speaker can now control even more smart home appliances such as Washing machines, dishwashers, dryers, robot vacuum cleaners, and others.
You will be able to use your Google Home to control the dishwasher in your kitchen. Google recently added a bunch of new items to the list of smart home devices. So far, the smart speaker could only directly control products such as the Nest Thermostat, Think Hue, LiFX, smart switches, and a few security cameras.

Now, the direct commands work for smart dishwashers, dryers, washing machines, and more. Manufacturers can implement the required code into their devices and you no longer have to remember the exact phrases to make these machines work. You can use the Google Home’s natural language processor and ask it perform an action with the newly connected devices.
For example, you can start, stop, or pause the appliances, ask the robot vacuum to dock, and even change the mode of the washing machine or dryer. Some companies have already done this, such as Samsung. Others such as LG and GE will soon implement this direct control feature on their smart products.

Apart from controlling new appliances directly, Google Home also gets a new Scene control option. Scenes are basically a scenario for controlling a bunch of lights, their brightness, color, etc, all together. LiFX and SmartThings allows you to create scenes, which can be controlled via Google Home. These can now also be activated and deactivated using Google Home direct commands.
