Galaxy Tab A 10.1 gets PL1 update, installs December security patch

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 is now receiving the December Security patch through the PL1 update. The update with firmware version P580UEU1APL2/P580XAR1APL2 is around 379MB, and brings new and enhanced features to the tablet, along with bug fixes and performance and stability improvements.

Before updating your tablet, make sure that it has sufficient charge more importantly make sure that all your important data is backed up safely.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 may not be in line for the Nougat update any time soon. So if you’ve had enough of Marshmallow and want to experiment with your tablet, you can root and flash other custom ROMs onto the device.

Installing a custom ROM will not only give the tablet a breath of fresh air with Nougat based AOSP ROMs but also add extra functionality seldom found in stock firmware that it ships with. Now rooting the tablet voids warranty, and if you do no want to go down that path, you can just stay happy with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow builds for now.
