Samsung has recently started sending out press invites for the launch of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ scheduled for next month. As usual, the press material has some details regarding what to expect.
The Galaxy S9 and S9+ are expected to up the photography game as Samsung aims to erase the story of the dominant Google Pixel 2. In the press invite, the use of phrases like “The Camera. Reimagined” is an indicator that Samsung has big plans for the cameras of the S9 and S9+.
Now, according to a Chinese tipster who is increasingly becoming popular with his discoveries with respect to Samsung Galaxy flagship phones, the Galaxy S9 camera will be able to record videos of up to 1000 frames per second (fps).

At the moment, only Sony’s Xperia XZ Premium can record slow-motion videos of up to 960fps. If this is true, we could be looking at a new dawn in smartphone photography. Whether this will be similar to Sony’s where users can only record short clips is still unknown, but it does add more weight to a previous leak that suggested the Galaxy S9 and S9+ cameras will come with support for super slow-motion video recording and an even wider aperture lens of f/1.5.
Note that this is a rumor and like any other, take it with a grain of salt. Still, it won’t be long before we find out the exact details of the phones, including their release dates and prices in different markets across the globe.
