Samsung is expected to start rolling out the Galaxy S8 Oreo update anytime from now and it seems T-Mobile wants in too, which is not unusual at all.
At such a time last year, the Magenta carrier started testing Android Nougat on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, the then flagship phones from Samsung. A couple of weeks later, the OS started rolling out to all users of the pair on the carrier.
Fast forward a year later, T-Mobile has started testing Android Oreo on the Galaxy S8 and S8+. So, what does last year’s case tell us about the S8 Oreo update release date for T-Mobile users? Well, we can say it’ll be ready for release in a couple of weeks’ time, but there’s no guarantee.
Usually, the testing phase of software doesn’t involve customizations and optimizations, rather, carriers carry out testing that is specific to their network while checking that the OEM did implement their specific apps and features in the right way.
Over the years, T-Mobile has proven that it has one of the shortest testing phases while the likes of AT&T and Verizon are the exact opposite, especially the latter. The fact that T-Mobile and Sprint users in the U.S. were the only ones allowed to join the Galaxy Beta program, the OS should be released to the pair before other variants get the treat.
