Samsung fans who thought they were being treated to a sneak peek at the much highly-anticipated Galaxy S8 may have been duped according to a Chinese Twitter handle which has been pretty accurate in spotting fakes.
The supposed “leaked” images and renders of Samsung’s next flagship handset from GSMArena and Weibo that surfaced online recently has been called out as a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge that has simply been made up by some basic image editing software.
The suspect image released by GSMArena was quickly picked up by news outlets and social media. And the image from Chinese sources showed a gold-coloured Samsung phone with a curved display, narrow bezels and no physical buttons, much in line with the rumors regarding the design of the Samsung Galaxy S8 while the image from GSMarena was a 3-D render of the device similar to the rumours highlighting the dimensions.
Sorry Samsung fans – it looks as if you’ll have to wait a little while longer to get a real sneak peek on the Galaxy S8. Fortunately, that might not be too far off, with the device now expected to debut in April.
