A concept video showing the Galaxy S8 has been posted by twitter user Steve Hemmerstoffer. Concept videos reflect the hopes and dreams combined of die hard fans, expecting the best of the best for their favorite upcomin phone. And this one is really a top notch, capable of giving a Samsung ad a run for its money.
The concept video reveals a beautiful design, with thinner top and bottom bezels, the familiar Edge display and even a removable back (that seems pretty unlikely, but hey, can’t blame a guy for dreaming). The video also showcases a dual camera setup; no surprises there, we’ve been seeing so many smartphones featuring that. Though chamfered edges near the display doesn’t really follow Samsung’s design language, they seem to be featured in the video too.
How much of this will actually make it into reality, we can only guess. The upcoming flagship from Samsung is expected to feature a wide range of killer specifications. The first major change expected is the ditching of the physical home button. This means that Samsung might go for the Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, featured in the Xiaomi Mi Mix or may implement some new tech.
It has been confirmed that Galaxy S8 will feature its Samsung’s own new AI, rumored to be called Bixby AI, in competition to the Google Assistant on the Pixel, Apple’s Siri and Microsoft Cortana. The AI is developed by Viv labs which Samsung has recently acquired.
Both the Galaxy S8 and the S8 Edge (supposing that Samsung doesn’t provide the S8 an Edge display) is also expected to pack a Goliath 6 GB/8 GB of RAM, and this will also see an upgrade to LPDDR4X, which is more power efficient and faster than before. Good job Samsung!. The Chipset that will be the obvious contender for the American markets would be Snapdragon 830, and the Exynos 8890 for the Asian and eastern markets of the world.
The Galaxy S8 was expected to feature a 5.1 inch 2K display while S8 Edge taking up 5.5 inch 4K screen. However, recent rumors suggest that Samsung could do a Mi Mix, and may come with a similar full front screen, which will help it reduce the device’s overall size while increasing the screen size, and thus may settle on a 5.7” display for regular S8, while 6.2” display for edge variant, which could be called Galaxy S8 Plus, unless the latter is a 3rd type of Galaxy S8 in itself.
We also heard rumors about Samsung looking to use 3D touch, or Force touch kind of display, that Apple started using since last year.
The juice needed to run all this will ensure a decent battery upgrade too (finger crossed). And of course, what would Samsung be without our delicious version of Android Nougat, where the version would be 7.1.1, the current latest iteration making rounds in the Nexus beta. All this is good news for VR and Google’s Daydream too.
A rough estimated date of February 26 release date has been speculated for Samsung to release their flagships and we’ll just have to wait with bated breath for the big reveal.
