Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus update rolling out in Canada with BlueBorne security patch

The Canadian Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are now receiving an OTA update in Canada with build number NRD90M.G950WVLU1AQI3. The update comes in at a pretty huge size of 330MB and brings along a patch for the BlueBorne vulnerability.

For the unknown, BlueBorne is a recently discovered security vulnerability which lets a hacker gain full control of your device through Bluetooth only. It doesn’t even require a paired connection. Just getting in range of your Bluetooth enabled smartphone would give a hacker access to your device. Thankfully, Samsung is acting fast to patch this vulnerability on its devices.

The update to canadian Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus is rolling out as we speak. However, if you haven’t received the update notification yet, go over to your device Settings » Software update and manually check for an update from there.

Notably, the Galaxy S8 Oreo update is also expected release very soon. Rumor has it that Samsung has begun testing Oreo based firmware on the Galaxy S8, and will soon launch a beta test firmware under the Galaxy Beta program.
