Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and Note 4 receiving update with July security patch

Galaxy S6

Samsung is rolling out a new software update to its Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy Note 4 handsets.

The update installs the latest July security patch on the said handsets and is arriving with the following software version respectively:

  • Samsung Galaxy S6: G920IDVU3FQG1
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: G920IDVU3FQG1
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Exynos): N910CXXS2DQG6
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (Snapdragon): N910FXXS1DQFA

Taking into account the fact that it’s a minor update, you can go ahead and download it over cellular data or switch to a Wi-Fi network for the same. You shouldn’t face any issues either ways although the latter is recommendable.

It’s worth noting that your smartphone should have at least 50% charge left on it before you click the install button. So, make sure to charge your device if it’s less than the recommended value.

In addition, we would suggest you back up your personal data before beginning the process. This way, if you face any issues, you won’t have to worry about the data on your handset.
