As expected, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge units in Canada have started receiving a new firmware update which installs the Android 7.0 Nougat OS. The update is being pushed over the air and may take a while to appear on your device.

Samsung Galaxy S6 users in Canada Galaxy S6 are receiving the Nougat update as build number G920W8VLU5DQD1 while the Nougat update is hitting Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge units as build number G925W8VLU5DQD1. With the new firmware update, both the Galaxy devices will be able to taste all the new features the Nougat update brings viz improved notification menu, split window mode and improved battery courtesy Doze mode.

In all probability, the new update also brings regular bug fixes and system improvements, along with the Nougat OS. To check for the update manually, head to Settings > About device > System updates. However, before hitting the download button, ensure that your device is sufficiently charged and connected to a WiFi network.

Samsung first started rolling out the Nougat update to unlocked Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge handsets last month in Turkey followed by Europe and other regions. This month, we saw Sprint releasing Android 7.0 Nougat to the Galaxy S6 units in its network.
