The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 at T-Mobile is getting a new update this week which brings a few new, useful features to the table.

Some users on Reddit have reported getting the update which should bump the software version on the phone to N950USQU5CRIA. While the changelog only mentions the new build includes the September security patch (we’re in October, T-Mobile), users note the new build brings two new features.

The first one is Super Slow-Mo video recording which will allow you to record video at 960fps in 720p resolution. This option has been introduced with the Galaxy S9 and now Note 8 owners at T-Mobile can give it a go too.

The second new feature is AR Emoji. Samsung’s answer to Apple’s Animoji, AR Emoji is a tool that snaps a picture of you, and then automatically generates an avatar based on that.

The update is rolling out over-the-air (OTA), but if you haven’t seen it yet you can go ahead and check manually to see if it has arrived. Just go to Settings>About Device>Software Updates.

But while this is a nice update, some of you might be wondering when is your Note 8 getting Android 9 Pie, right? Well, according to Samsung France the company might start disseminating the new version of Android come January 2019. But even if that happens, the Galaxy Note 8 won’t be first in line to get it, so if you own a Galaxy Note 8 you are in for quite a wait.
