Samsung’s two-year-old Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus are receiving a new software update over-the-air in Canada.
The update installs the latest July security patch on the handsets and is arriving with the following build numbers respectively:
- Samsung Galaxy Note 5: N920W8VLS4CQG1
- Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus: G928W8VLS4CQG1
With the update installed on your Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus, the security vulnerabilities, if any, should be removed and the overall security of the handsets will be improved.

Considering the fact that the update is being pushed over-the-air, it might not reach all the devices at once. So, if you don’t like waiting for it arrive on your handset, head to Settings > About phone > Software update to check for the update manually.
Also, it’s worth mentioning that it’s essential for you to charge your handset before installing the update. And, if possible, try to back up your data before hitting the install button.
