How to Fix Sticky Power and Volume buttons on Pixel and Pixel XL

Having trouble with the power or volume buttons on your Google Pixel and Pixel XL devices. Are the buttons getting sticky, not giving the click sound when pressed? Or are simply failing to push/press? Well, you’re not alone.

There are quite many Pixel users with similar problem on their devices. The quick fix that most users have suggested is to suck on the button, and it works for many, but we found it awkward and a bit disgusting to suggest so here’s a better solution to fix the issue by redditor plotagon.

plotagon suggests that you clean the sticky power and volume buttons on your Pixel with a Isopropyl alcohol pad which you can find inside most first-aid kits.

How to Fix Stick Power/Volume button on Pixel and Pixel XL

  1. Get a Isopropyl alcohol pad.
  2. Clean your Pixel’s Power or Volume buttons with the Isopropyl alcohol pad while the button is pushed in and when it’s out.
  3. Do this a couple of times, if required.

That’s it. The sticky power/volume button issue on your Pixel phone should be resolved by this simple trick.

  3. This works great! But be sure to do it WITH THE PHONE OFF! I accidentally activated the emergency response system while cleaning mine.
