Unable to install the Oculus System Update? The nagging notification to update the service is coming back and forth? Well, it’s not your fault. There’s some issue with the update system of the app, which is stopping you from getting the latest update.
Anyway, there are a couple of fixes for the Oculus System Update activity issue. First is to enable the Facebook app and Facebook Messenger app, but if you don’t wish to do so, then just go ahead with the second solution to fix the update issue.
Oculus System Update activity is downloaded as an .apk file, but for some reason though the service fails to install the update and thus deletes the download .apk file of the update. But you can interrupt this process.
Thanks to a tip shared by user sohojmanush over at xda, you can save the downloaded .apk file of the update by simply installing an app with recycle bin functionality from the Play Store. Follow the quick instructions below:
Note: Root access might be required.
- Download/install Dumpster app from the Play Store.
- Let Oculus download the System Update Activity, then go ahead and install it.
└ It’s okay if it fails again. - Open dumpster app you’ll find the com.oculus.systemactivities.apk file there. This is the update file.
- Install the com.oculus.systemactivities.apk file like you’d install any other .apk file.
└ Make sure to enable installation of .apk files from “Unkown sources” in the security settings.
That’s all. Oculus System Update Activity issue should be fixed on your device now.
Happy Androiding!
