Despite being branded as an OS optimized to boost battery life on your Android smartphone, the Android 7.0 Nougat update has far too many issues that cause battery drain.
We did a detailed post earlier this week on how to fix nougat battery drain issue caused by a bug in the system, but it just came to our attention that Nougat also has Bluetooth issues that causes battery drain.
User pencersir2 over at xda has shared a quick tip to fix bluetooth battery drain issue on Android 7.0 Nougat. According to him, it’s not the Bluetooth module that has issues with battery but the new doze mode on Nougat that’s not correctly optimizing Bluetooth connections and hence causing battery to drain faster while streaming/sharing something over Bluetooth.
Although not all Android 7.0 Nougat users are reporting battery drain issue because of Bluetooth, but there have been enough complaints about the issue over at xda and other Android communities to consider it a bug/issue with Android 7.0 Nougat.
While we await for Google to release a fix for battery drain caused by Bluetooth on Nougat, here’s a quick tip by pencersir2 to do away with the issue for now:
- Go to Settings » Battery.
- Touch the 3-dot menu in top-right corner and select Battery optimization from there.
- Touch the drop down menu and select All apps from there.
- Scroll down and select Bluetooth share » select Don’t optimize » select DONE.
- Similarly, disable optimization for other apps on your device that you use with Bluetooth (like music streaming apps).
That’s it. Hope this quick tip helps in fixing Bluetooth battery drain issue on your Android 7.0 Nougat running device.
