Motorola has just released its first update for one half of the quartet that forms the Moto G7 series — that is, the Moto G7 and Moto G7 Plus. They were unveiled just a few days ago (on February 7th) at an event in Brazil, and are currently only available in a select few markets.

Motorola has now released “Maintenance Notes” corresponding to the G7 and G7+ on its support website. The notes specify what the update does, how to install it in case the notification has popped up in the user’s phone, and how to install it in case it hasn’t.

For both the Moto G7 and Moto G7 Plus, the update fixes unknown bugs as well as improves the stability of the phone. The first update for the two devices also brings January 2019 security patch.

If you have bought the Moto G7 or G7+ (or are about to), you are up for an OTA update soon. Motorola often publishes the Maintenance Notes pages before actually rolling out the update, so don’t fret if you haven’t seen the update already.

In case you’re wondering, this update or any similar update is not available for the Moto G7 Power and Moto G7 Play yet.

For users that have received the update notification, the instructions are to click on “Download and Install” first, then click on “Restart Now” once installation is complete. In case of not receiving the update, the user can head to Settings > Advanced > System Updates and click on “Download and Install”, then click on “Restart Now” once installation is complete.
