How to Factory Reset Google Home

Google Home is a fully voice operated device with no display of its own. For visual tasks, the device is operated using the Google Home app from the Play Store. But what if you want to factory reset Google Home?

You may feel the need to reset your Google Home when it’s not working properly or you’re selling/giving it to someone else. Below is how you can factory reset Google Home.

[icon name=”info-circle” class=”” unprefixed_class=””] Note: Factory Resetting your Google Home will wipe/delete all data from the device including linked smart devices like thermostats, plugs and switches, lights, etc.

  1. Press and hold the Microphone button on the back of your Google Home device for around 15 seconds.
  2. The Google Assistant will confirm you by voice that it’s resetting the device.
  3. Your Google Home will automatically reboot once reset.
